Dear TP Silat,
I’m writing this for the sake of those who weren’t around during my farewell speech to the Team.
I’ve officially quit the Team and sport of Silat to fully concentrate on my new CCA, Kayak Racing. I underwent the selections yesterday and managed to secure a spot in the Kayak Racing Team. This may come as a sudden surprise to everyone in the Team, especially the IVP squad, but like what I explained to those present yesterday; rowing a Kayak has always been challenge I’ve wanted to take up ever since I witnessed it on TV during the Olympics. The contemplating started ever since I found out about Kayak Racing as a sport in our school. I weighed my options during the semester breaks, and came to a final conclusion early this week. But why now? I have to consider the fact that I’ve only got 3 semesters left in school and this number I believe is the minimum period I need to achieve and learn as much as possible in the sport of Kayaking!
I received mixed responses from various friends and mates regarding my withdrawal from the Team. Some of you may think I disregard the Silat Team and my fellow friends but under what circumstances have you guys got to support YOUR claim?? Do you seriously think it is true? Please look back.. I truly understand the fact that not everyone is in the same boat as me. It seriously touched a raw nerve of mine after I received the SMSes from some, but nevertheless, I would like to thank the rest who understood my plight and the well wishes and support you gave me.
To the rest of the Team, forgive me if I had been too harsh on you guys, especially the girls; but that is my way of discipline and strengthening your mental toughness. Without discipline, the Team will never excel. To the girls, you have a perfect role model in Faradina and Suhailah to look up to. Everyone please maintain and improve your fitness levels. If you think you need extra training, then sacrifices have to be made. Burn some of your free time and do your own running or gym training. At the end of the day, win or lose, you know you put in that little bit of effort to push yourself up a further level! “WATER CONTINUALLY DROPPING, WILL WEAR HARD ROCKS HOLLOW “ . No matter how hard you feel it is to achieve something, if you work hard, train hard and sweat it out, the impossible is nothing!
To Qayyum, working with you as my Captain was a pleasure. Continue the hard work and effort you’ve put into your Team. To the guys, respect the Captain and his decision. If only the whole Team were there before every training to see what he’s doing, the passion and drive that he has. Look back and reflect, you’ll realize he’s done almost everything for the Team. He has your interests and welfare at heart. He is one who breathes and eat Silat.
To Abg Syah and Cik Rashed, sorry for the disappointment. I would like to thank the both of you for the training, advice and guidance to date.
TO THE IVP SQUAD, GOOD LUCK! BRING HOME THE CHAMPIONS TROPHY =)
P/S: TO AISHAH ARSHAD, THIS IS THE LOVE LETTER I WAS WRITING!
Regards,
